Who would the book appeal to? I think this book would appeal to older people that have alot of time on thier hands and have nothing else to do.
What about it is appealing? The only thing i can find appealing about this book so far is when she pees on herself at church other than that this book has not been that much interesting.

It's wording is one from back in the slavery times so there might be an issue with that but a issue their definettly are going to run into is its way of exxagerating on scences.

What about it is appealing? i like how she thinks that white people arent people for simply the fact that her neighborhood calls them "white people" and not simply just people like her neighbors.

What would students need to know about in order to understand the book? Some of the talking is in a bit of a slang and if you can understand that then you should be pretty much good.

Why does Maya dislike white people so much?

My Opinon

I can see myself not really liking this book maybe because of its name or its just not very attractive to me when i see the cover. They tell me not to judge a book by its cover but this one seems like it gives a whole new meaning to the statement. I feel as if this book is going to be long and boring. I think this is one of those books that really exaggerate on the plot and really dont have a clear cut meaning.

My expectations

I'm not sure what i really expect from this book...... I have read many of Maya angelou's poems but not her books. Her poems are amazing and im excited and anticipating to read this book.... i kinda expect a new perspecitive when I'm done reading this book..... I believe this book is suppose to talk about her life and the struggles she went through growing up.......... os happy i have the chance to read this book...............................................................................................................

ExPeCtAtIoNs:
~get reading done on time (around 20pgs a day)
~lets all make sure we participate in group work/conversations

Haven't read any memoirs besides This Boy's Life and now I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. If we all get the reading done on time this will be a lot easier for all of us to have the discussions.

Mr.Expectations

My group chose this book, i didnt really want to read it but 3 to 1 vote lol. I have read a couple of memoirs before, i'm hoping that it will be better than I think it will be.

Expectations:
-reading roughly 20 pages a day and not reading weekends
-participating in group discussions and making sure people stay caught up with the book.
